Relationships Built
You've introduced yourself to every field crew, superintendent, and key sub on your projects — and they already trust you know the job.
Lead the underground. Drive the schedule. Deliver the project. Burns Construction is seeking an experienced Utility Project Manager to oversee underground utility projects — including gas, water, sewer, and storm systems — from pre-construction through completion. If you bring structure, accountability, and field-savvy leadership, we want to hear from you.
Why This Role Matters
Underground utility infrastructure is the backbone of every community — and the Utility PM is the person who makes sure it gets built right. At Burns Construction, this role sits at the intersection of field execution and project control.

You'll own the rhythm of every project — keeping crews moving, schedules tight, and field decisions grounded in data, not guesswork.
Every budget decision flows through you. Your ability to track costs, catch variances early, and course-correct is what keeps projects financially healthy.
From the first shovel to final closeout, you're the connective tissue — keeping clients, crews, subs, and ownership on the same page at every stage.
The Role
09 core responsibilities
From pre-construction planning through final closeout, you'll own every moving part — keeping crews aligned, budgets tight, and clients informed across multiple active projects.
Prepare and maintain schedules, cost-tracking reports, and project records across the full lifecycle — ensuring every document is accurate, current, and audit-ready at every stage.
Build detailed plans, milestones, and Gantt schedules that keep every crew and sub aligned from day one through closeout.
Allocate labor, equipment, and materials — then conduct regular site visits to verify progress and keep every crew on track.
Monitor budgets, track variances, and take corrective action before small gaps become costly overruns.
Analyze production rates and job data to protect profitability and sharpen reporting accuracy across active projects.
Lead meetings, align teams with subs and vendors, and keep every stakeholder informed from kickoff to closeout.
Coordinate subcontractors and suppliers to keep materials flowing and crews working without delays or gaps.
Identify problems early, implement lasting solutions, and protect the schedule and bottom line — before small issues become project-defining setbacks.
Hold every project to spec — upholding safety standards, regulatory requirements, and Burns Construction's reputation for excellence on every site, every time.
Performance Milestones
We're not just hiring someone to manage tasks — we're hiring someone to own outcomes. Here's what hitting the ground running looks like in this role.
You've introduced yourself to every field crew, superintendent, and key sub on your projects — and they already trust you know the job.
Project schedules are published, accurate, and actively driving weekly field planning — not sitting in a drawer.
Job cost tracking is running clean — production rates, budgets, and variances are monitored weekly and flagged before they become problems.
Clients and internal stakeholders receive consistent, structured updates — no one is chasing you for a status report.
Multiple active projects are running on time, on budget, and to spec — simultaneously. You're not reacting to fires, you're preventing them. The team trusts your direction, subs respect your process, and Burns Construction knows this hire was the right one.
